Specialized therapy for single-event trauma & complex trauma in Colorado Springs

Trauma is not the event that occurred but the body’s response. Trauma is relative and lives in our bodies.

You may ask; “Will I ever feel like myself again?” “Why do I still feel this way even though it is over?” “Why can’t I just move on?” “Why does my body react when my mind says I’m fine?” “Why do I keep repeating the same dysfunctional patterns over and over?” “Why do my relationships keep failing.” “Why are there parts of myself I hate?”

Trauma can look different for everyone. Trauma presents with a wide range of symtoms. Everybody’s physiology and prior life experiences are different. Trauma is cumulative and stored in our bodies. Old trauma, that we may not even be aware of, may be activated by recent events. Sometimes we may not even know we cary stored trauma in our bodies, which can make a trauma response confusing and frightening.

Trauma is relative and is any event that was too much for our nervous system to process at that time. Trauma is ongoing events and experiences that slowly erode away our sense of self, safety and connection with ourselves and others.

You are ready to listen to, honor, and heal your body.

How therapy works

Helping you safely process and integrate trauma.

Trauma therapy addresses painful experiences that continue to affect your thoughts, belief systems, body, emotions, behaviors and relationships. Trauma can be a single, unresolved, overwhelming event. It is important to acknowledge that trauma, known as complex trauma, also comes from everyday experiences that feel overwhelming and become the norm such as chronic stress, constant criticism, and emotional neglect. Repeated hurts and ruptures can leave a lasting impact on your mind, body and sense of safety.

Through a paced, attuned approach, we work to process what remains unresolved and what has become the norm. Using insight-oriented and experiential work, including parts work, somatic practices, and EMDR when appropriate, experiences begin to feel less charged and more integrated. Beliefs about yourself, others and the world shift and relationships transform.

The process is collaborative and paced to your comfort - allowing you to face the past without being overwhelmed so you can reclaim a sense of calm, safety, clarity, and confidence in your daily life.
